Cruz Control - (w12 recap)

More than a Novelty
NY Giants wideout Victor Cruz

The transformation of former UMass receiver Victor Cruz has been something to behold.  Going into the season Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham were the Giants receivers to own.  But through week 12 of our season, Cruz has been better than better than Nicks, Super Mario, and all but 8 other wide receivers; proving he has been much more than a trending fad.
Week 12 turned out to be quite low scoring.  Led by Al Davis at just 102.  The win propels him into the catbird seat at 9-2-1 with two weeks left in the regular season.  Also winning this week: FormerlyKnownAsFavre, My Team -, Donkey Power and a huge win by Big Time Johnson.  His win, paired with a Fumbler loss keep the big J's chances of reaching the playoffs alive and currently puts him at #5.  With a loss the ConVicks, Suck for Luck and Fumblers have all locked their fate in the consolation round.

Donkey Power, My Team - and Big Time Johnson will now slug it out for the last two spots in the big dance.

WEEK 12: Awards
Owner of the week: RIP Al Davis (102pts)

It may have been low for a typical owner of the week score, but in a week short on points, 102 was tops.  Team RIP has been a model of consistency through the weeks, scoring 90+ in 10 of 12 weeks, and is second in the league with 8 triple digit games.

Player of the week: Drew Brees, 36pts (Hunk Hoisters)
Brees was nothing short of awesome on Monday night against the Giants, putting up 363 yards passing and 5 total touchdowns.   Brees is now the 2nd overall player in fantasy after some guy named Rodgers.
[Honorable Mention: Tom Brady, 28pts]

Double-take Award: Beanie Wells, 26pts (Fumblers)
The first ever two-time award winner of the double-take award goes to my not so good buddy Beanie.  I couldn't believe it when he ran for 130 yards in week 4, but 228 yards this week nearly made me spew  orange juice all over my monitor.  Sadly, the sheer power of numbers demands the verdict: Beanie is an above-average player.
[Honorable Mention: Vince Young, 22pts]

Coaching move of the week:
Everybody did dumb stuff this week like starting a hobbled Andre Johnson over Brandon Marshall.  I don't just hand out this hardware for no reason people.  Amaze me with your coaching skills next weekend.

Special Teams Award: Sebastian Janikowski, 23pts (RIP Al Davis)
The official kicker of the Fantasy Football BIG TIME Blog was a busy man Sunday.  Kicking and hitting on all 6 of his of his field goals and an extra point to boot.  Never has such an ugly face paired up with such a beautiful foot.
[Honorable Mention: Ravens D, 18pts]

The Weekly Haha Award: Mike Wallace, 1pt (Hunk)
In a week where his team had 4 players score a combined 5 points, Wallace was the most disappointing. The Steelers stud has been great this year, but has certainly experienced a downtick lately.
[Dishonorable Mention: Frank Gore, 3pts]

==========================
Did anyone see the Minus' very own Steve Johnson and his touchdown celebration this week?  I saw it live but didn't realize what he was doing until I saw it again.  See if you can figure it out.

I certainly wouldn't have done it, but man was it funny.  Plaxico seemed to take it well though.
