Game of the Week Special!! (w9)

**4/11/11 edit** Remaining matchups previewed below

Have you ever wondered about the conflict of interest while I'm doing all these previews, many of them with my own team involved?  Well I have as well.  To fix that, I'll be previewing the other 4 match-ups, but for the highly anticipated Hunk Hoisters vs. My Team - we have Rick, the owner of My Team - to preview the GOTW.

See... absolutely no conflict of interest.

I will yield the floor to Mr. My Team -

My Team - (6-0-2) vs. Hunk Hoisters (7-1)

The top teams face off this week to determine who will move into sole possession of #1 honors.

Position: Quarterback
After a surprisingly poor performance versus the Rams, Drew Brees will continue to get the nod for the Hunk Hoisters and Tampa won't be able to keep him at Bay.  With the standout rookie Cam Newton on the shelf this week, The Minus is trying another rookie - Andy Dalton - and he is certainly no Cam Newton.
Advantage: Hunk Hoisters

Position: Running Back
Arian Foster will be ready to carry the load again this week with the Texans' depleted wide-receiving core on display and Cedric Benson should be well rested after a bye and brief 'vacation' - especially against a weak Titans run-defense.  For The Minus, a lot will be determined by the Jets-Bills matchup as he has the top running back for each team, and with teams that don't throw much, each could have a big day.
Advantage: Hunk Hoisters

Position: Wide Receiver
If any, HH's weakness is in the air.  Wallace is going up against a tough Raven's defense and Marshall has talent but not enough team to get him the ball.  Larry Fitzgerald hasn't put up the numbers he did in previous years but is going up against a weak Rams pass-defense.  The receiving core for The Minus is highly unpredictable.  Johnson has had some big outings but could easily wind up on Revis Island, Steve Breaston has been sub-par but is going up against a team even Tebow managed to defeat, and Heyward-Bey has a new quarterback to try and figure out but he is going up against a Broncos defense that allows a lot of, well, everything.
Advantage: The Minus

Position: Tight End
At the TE spot, HH has Finley who Rodgers hasn't managed to find nearly as much after his exploitation of the bears.  The colts have been solid against TEs so far this year but they haven't seen the ageless one roll through and they certainly haven't been able to stop anything else.
Advantage: The Minus

Position: D/ST/K
The Hunk Hoisters have a solid 49ers defense starting this week against a team prone to turnovers while the Minus' star Lions defense has a bye.  To replace the Lions, the Minus has picked up the Chiefs improving defense to face a lethargic Dolphins team.  The kicking game will be standard with Gostkowski and Bryant who rarely miss.
Advantage: Push

Prediction: Hunk Hoisters
This is going to be a tight matchup with HH handing The Minus his first loss.  Drew Brees will prove his sainthood and Foster will have his way with the browns proving too much for The Minus to overcome.

4 more winners this week...
  • RIP Al Davis (over the ConVicks)
RIP has two MONSTER runningbacks going for him in the Monday night game and a favorable matchup for Eli Manning.  Philly has put together a competent lineup that should get him close, but no cigar.  Ahmad Bradshaw might not suit up this week.
  • FormerlyKnownAsFavre (over Suck for Luck)
Team Suck for Luck, ironically enough, has quarterback issues.  Yes, I know help is coming, but for THIS season and particularly this week at Pittsburg isn't going to cut it.  Michael Vick has a chance to shine on Monday Night for team Favre.
  • BigTime Johnson (over Wright On)
This is the week Vincent Jackson gets back on track.  I wish I could say the same thing for Chris Johnson.  Ryan Torain also has a tough matchup in this one, even if we could predict how many carries he Shannahan gives him.
  • Donkey Power (over Biggest Fumblers)
Great matchup here between to borderline playoff teams.  Darren McFadden should get limited carries at best in this one and the almighty Peterson is on bye.  Add Caleb's best receiver Hakeem Nicks to the list of questionables and you've got a triple threat for failure.  The fumbler's bench is deep and should take the hit well enough to still compete.  This undermanned squad won't take down Aaron Rodgers and company, however.

Thanks to Rick for putting this up, great stuff.  If anyone else has something they want on the site, you can email it to me.  I will have the other four games predicted soon as well.
